Press Release received from Non Resident Nepali Association (NRNA) Secretariat

The  Non‐Resident  Nepali  Association  (NRNA),  International  Coordination  Council  (ICC)  has  formed  a Committee under the chairmanship of Professor Surya P. Subedi, a distinguished professor of law based in  the  UK  with  expertise  on  international,  constitutional  and  human  rights  law,  to  prepare  the  NRN suggestions for the proposed constitution of Nepal.  The committee will collect suggestions from NRNs residing all over the world and draft the collective NRNA recommendation, which will be submitted to the  Constituent  Assembly  in  Nepal.  The  committee  has  been  asked  to  submit  a  well  thought  out  and comprehensive  set  of  suggestions  representing  collective  aspirations  of  the  global  NRN  community  to the ICC by 15 March 2009. Other members of the committee are Mr Kul Chandra Gautam, the former UN  Assistant  Secretary‐General,  Mr  Naresh  Koirala,  NRNA  Regional  Coordinator  for  North  America, Professor  Alok  Bohara,  professor  of  political  science  at  the  University  of  New  Mexico  USA,  Dr  Jugal Bhurtel,  the  Spokesperson  of  the  NRNA,  Mr  Dinesh  Tripathi,  the  NRNA’s  Legal  Advisor  as  well  as  the Presidents of the following 45 international chapters of the NRN Association:

Bhaktapur, February 8, NS report –
Nepal who had already berth their place in  the semi-final of the ACC U-17 Elite Cup, maintained their unbeaten steak and also topped  Group A with a four wicket win over Singapore on Sunday.

Nepal plays UAE ( TU ground )while Malaysia takes on Qatar  (Engineering ground) in the semi-final on Tuesday. Afresh from a dismissal batting performance from the previous match Nepal chose to field and restricted Singapore to 139 runs with the loss of nine wickets, at the TU Ground.

Lead by Abhiraj Rajdeep Singh’s bowling, Singapore made Nepal work hard to accomplish the target, which they acquired in the 29th over. Singh claimed three wickets giving away 27 runs in his spell of eight overs.

Nepal rode to victory, banking on Sagar Pun and Nischal Chaudhary’s kncok of 23 and 38 runs. Pun put up a 26 runs partnership with Aakash Singh Pariyar before getting stumped to Singh. 

 Rezza Gazanavi attempt of getting his team back in the game with two wickets came on too little too late as Nepal had already set up their momentum for the win. Captain Prithu Baskota played a patiently innings to ensure his team’s win remaining unbeaten at 18 of 48 balls.

Man-of-the-match, Pun had also lead from the front in bowling as well. He got  both the openers IShan Shekhar (19) and Mohit Kulkarni (14), He took three wickets giving away 25 runs in his seven overs spell. Sarangdev Krishnan was the other batsmen who defied Nepal’s bowling piling up 20 run. Krishna Karki ran Krishnan out.

Rochak Bhatta, Krishna Karki and Bhuwan Karki shared a wicket a piece. Nepal coach Roy Dias expressed dissatisfaction with his batsmen. ” We have not been able to maintain the good batting performance we displayed in the first match,” Dias went on to say ” The boys are still confused with the shot selection.”

The Non-Resident Nepali Association President Dr. Upendra Mahato handed over trolleys for the airport at Kathmandu to the Minister for Tourism and Civil Aviation Ms. Hisila Yami amidst a function at the international airport. At the function he recalled that the NRNA had decided to make the trolleys available to the airport taking into consideration the fact that the airport was instrumental in making impression about Nepal among the visitors and the fact that the conditions of trolleys at the airport were entirely unsatisfactory. He also recalled that it was one of the pledges made at the Third Global Non-Resident Nepali conference of 2007. At the ceremony he informed that the NRNA had made 100 trolleys available this time and additional trolleys would be made available in future.  Press Release received from Non Resident Nepali Association (NRNA) Secretariat

The NRNA handed over the last instalment of Rs.15,00,937/- (Fifteen lakhs nine hundred and thirty seven rupees) to the Prime Minister today. The NRNA had mobilized the resources among the NRN community after the massive flood of this year. The cheque was handed over by Mr. Jiba Nath Lamichhane, Coordinator of the charity task force to the Prime Minister. During the hand over, Mr. Lamichhane reminded the Prime Minister that the NRNA President and other members as well as the NRN Association had deposited their personal and group contribution amount earlier. Altogether the NRN community had mobilised about Rs. 17.5 million. During the event, Mr. Lamichhane informed the Prime Minister that many NRNs were looking for information on how the resources provided by them have been utilized. He urged the Prime Minister for such information. He informed that such information would help mobilization of resources in future. Dr. Birendra Mahato – an NRN from Belaurs, Mr. Ghanashyam Thapa – an NRN from Russia and Dr. Hemant Dabadi - NRNA Executive Director were also present during the handing over of the cheque.

NRNA Statement on the State of Deteriorating Civil Security in Nepal

Following the historic People’s Movement of 2006 and the successful election of the Constitutional Assembly (CA), the Non-Resident Nepali Association (NRNA) believed that the apparent understanding and cooperation among political parties would usher in an era of peace, prosperity and democratic polity in Nepal. Indeed, there are enough reasons to believe that the election of the Constituent Assembly provides a basis for all to effect the peaceful social and economic transformation of Nepal in his or her own way. The Nepali diaspora heartily welcomed the political developments in Nepal, despite being unable to vote in the CA elections and it has always expressed its willingness to support the making of the new constitution that guarantees globally accepted norms of human rights, democracy, and the rule of law.

Our hope of an era of peace and prosperity in Nepal has been frustrated by the recent events in the country. The NRNA notes with dismay the situation in Nepal where, following the historic political realignment, the incumbent political forces have bred an atmosphere of violent discord and lawless insecurity, instead of focusing on crafting a democratic constitution and taking the country on a road to a lasting peace and prosperity.

विजयादशमी लाइभ कन्सर्टको पहिलो कार्यक्रम अक्टोबर १ को दिन क्वालालम्पूरको बुकित किरा दमनसारा र अक्टोबर २ मा जोहोरमा भव्यताको साथ सम्पन्न भएको छ । नेपाल विजनेश सोसाइटी अफ मलेसियाको आयोजनामा सम्पन्न उक्त कन्सर्ट अक्टोबर ५ मा पेनाङमा हुँदैछ ।

मलेसियाकै इतिहासमा पहिलो यतिका ठूलो संख्यामा सम्पन्न भएको कार्यक्रमको रुपमा लिन सकिने लाइभ कन्सर्टको प्रमुख अतिथि नेपाल दुतावासको तर्फबाट भएको थियो भने एनआरएन अध्यक्ष शंकरबहादुर पौडेल प्रायोजक म्ष्न्ष् ऋयुगलष्अबतष्यल का प्रतिनिधिको उपस्थिति रहेकेा थियो । क्वालालम्पूरमा भएको कार्यक्रममा करिब ७ हजार र जोहोरको कार्यक्रममा करिब ५५०० दर्शकको उपस्थित रहेको थियो । क्वालालम्पूरस्थीत कार्यक्रमस्थल केही टाढा भएको र दर्शकलाई ओसार्ने बसले निश्चित समयमा पुर् याउन नसकेको कारण धेरै दर्शकहरु कार्यक्रम हेर्नबाट बिाचत भएका थिए । जोहोरमा हलको क्षमताभन्दा बढि टिकट काटिएको कारण दर्शकहरु बिाचत भए । तर जोहोर एरियाकै सबै भन्दा ठूलो कार्यक्रमस्थल बुक गरिएको कुरा डिजी कम्यूनिकेशनसँग सम्बन्धित नेपाली म्यानेजर सुनिल चालिसेले बताउनु भयो । 

हरिरायाको अवसरमा लामो छुट्टी हुनेको भएको कारण टाढा टाढाबाट कार्यक्रम हेर्न आएका दर्शकलाई कलाकारहरुले भरपूर मनोराजन दिएका थिए । विशेषगरी कोमल ओलीको मनोराजनले भरिपूर्ण साचालन रेखा थापाको नृत्य धिरज राईको हल्ला गायिका राधा राईको कोकिल आवाज र हास्यसमूह सीताराम कट्टेल धुर्मुस् कुाजना घिमिरे सुन्तली र केदार घिमिरे माग्नेबुढाको प्रहसनलाई दर्शकहरुले विशेष मनपराएका थिए । 

सबै कलाकारहरु मलेसियाको कार्यक्रमदेखि सन्तुष्ट रहेको र विदेशमा पहिलोपटक यतिका धेरै संख्याको अगाडि आफ्नो कला प्रस्तुत गर्न पाएको कुरा बताएका छन् ।

मलेसियामा करिब साढे तीनलाखको हाराहारीमा नेपाली रहेको र प्रायःजसो सबै नेपालीले डिजी कम्यूनिकेशनलाई नै प्रयोग गर्ने भएको कारण उक्त डिजी कम्यूनिकेशन नेपालीहरुको हरेक सुखदुःखमा रमाउँदै आइरहेको छ । नेपालीहरुको नयाँवर्ष मनाइदिने चाडवाड मनाइदिने र नेपाली समाचारहरुलाई सम्पे्रषण गर्ने कार्यसमेत गर्दै आएको छ । 

कार्यक्रमबाट उठेको रकम नेपालीहरुको विकासको लागि लगानी गर्ने कुरा आयोजक विजनेश सोसाइटी अफ मलेसियाले जनाएको छ ।

Ghatasthapana - September 30, 2008
The first day of Dashain is called Ghatasthapana, which literally means pot establishing. On this day the kalash, (holy water vessel) symbolising goddess Durga often with her image embossed on the side is placed in the prayer room. The kalash is filled with holy water and covered with cowdung on to which seeds are sown. A small rectangular sand block is made and the kalash is put in the centre. The surrounding bed of sand is also seeded with grains. The ghatasthapana ritual is performed at a certain auspicious moment determined by the astrologers. At that particular moment the priest intones a welcome, requesting goddess Durga to bless the vessel with her presence.
