Singaporean students build library in Kaski, Nepal

admin January 2nd, 2008

While university students in the capital city spend their time sunning themselves on campus rooftops, a group of students from the Singapore Management University have constructed a library worth Rs 500,000 and renovated the school building of Harisiddi Primary School at Armala VDC of Kaski district.

During their 17-day stay in the village, the students also distributed 42 improved hearths to the villagers on the initiative of Pokhara Chambers of Commerce and Industry.

Last year too, students from the same university had constructed a library for Janata Primary School at Ward No 2 of the same VDC.

Room to Read, a non-governmental organization working in the education sector, has announced to provide 1,000 books to the newly established library.
