Nepal into ACC U-19 Elite Cup finals

Three-time champions Nepal carved out a five-wicket victory over hosts Malaysia at the Bayuemas Oval ground in on-going ACC U-19 Elite Cup to enter into final.

Captain & fast bowler Parash Khadka justified his decision to ball first after winning the toss and proved devastating for the Malaysian batsmen hauling five wickets (5-21) while Raj Shrestha took two wickets. Parash Khadka (10-1-21-5) was awarded the man of the match for the second time in the tournament. Malaysian team was packed up by Nepal Team for just 54 runs in 31 overs.

Nepal chased the target in just 20.5 overs losing five wickets.

Earlier in the tournament, Nepal defeated Oman, Singapore and the UAE to secure its place in the semi finals of the tournament.

In the final match scheduled for Wednesday, Nepal will face Afghanistan which beat UAE in the other semi-final.

The winner of Wednesday’s final will join Papua New Guinea (from the East Asia-Pacific Region), Ireland (from the Europe Region), Bermuda (from the Americas Region), the ICC’s 10 Full Members and hosts Malaysia at the 16-team ICC U/19 Cricket World Cup to be played from 17 February to 2 March 2008.
